Job Description
Local sugar packaging and distribution facility in Buffalo, NY looking for a QA Technician!!
1st and 3rd shift hours available
Pay varies based on experience - $18-21/hr

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Perform routine analysis on raw materials, in process and final products to ensure that finished products meet required specifications prior to releasing shipments
-Conduct product release procedures and generate Certificates of Analysis
-Perform calibration of lab equipment
-Perform plant wide monitoring activities to ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices, safety, food safety and quality assurance practices
-Maintain proper documentation in all formats of record keeping in a legible manner
-Report concise and professional communication in all forms; verbal, written and electronically
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
-A science-related 4-year degree or equivalent experience in Food Quality Assurance/ Food Safety is preferred.
-Minimum of 1 year experience at plant level QA is preferred
-Formal HACCP, BRC/SQF Training, FSMA/FSVP/PCQI Training is preferred
-Good knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices, understanding of all applicable regulatory requirements (Federal, State, Local)
-Good understanding of quality testing within the food and beverage industry, including analytical, microbiological, and sensory evaluation. Must possess a basic knowledge of chemical and microbiological analysis and basic math.
-Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make effective decisions
-Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs
-Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
-Skill in organization and prioritization, attention to detail
-Strong team player and leader by example
-Must be able to communicate ideas verbally and in writing, be a self-starter and handle challenging situations
-Must possess a working knowledge of computers and business software such as Microsoft Office
-Experience in the sugar or sweeteners industry is preferred but not mandatory
